Blades

Blades are typically any weapon type that has a long blade that is sharp along one whole side and is attached to a handle. Unlike axes which are wedge-shaped, blades are made for slicing and not chopping. Blades usually include knives, daggers, and swords, however scythes are considered blades as well due to having one long edge that is sharp and being used to slice instead of chop.

Knives & Daggers

Weapon Type: melee
Attack Type: slashing, piercing

Knives, also sometimes referred to as dirks, are weapons with a cutting blade attached to a handle. They are small hand-held weapons used as tools to prepare food or carve, or as a quick weapon that won't slow you down. A dagger is a type of fighting knife that is typically a little longer and heavier than traditional knives.

Swords

Weapon Type: melee
Attack Type: slashing, piercing

A sword is an edged, bladed weapon intended for manual cutting or thrusting. Its blade, longer than a knife or dagger, is attached to a hilt and can be straight or curved. A thrusting sword tends to have a straighter blade with a pointed tip. A slashing sword is more likely to be curved and to have a sharpened cutting edge on one or both sides of the blade. Many swords are designed for both thrusting and slashing.

Scythes

Weapon Type: melee
Attack Type: slashing, chopping

A scythe is an agricultural hand-tool for mowing grass or harvesting crops. It was historically used to cut down or reap edible grains before they underwent the process of threshing. Due to its long reach, a well sharpened scythe has quickly been adapted as a weapon. The scythes sold here are as such, and while they may be used for harvesting, they are more balanced to act as a weapon. Scythes are primarily slashing weapons, however they can cause chopping damage.
